The course equips delegates with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence required to deliver effective moving and handling training in line with the Scottish Manual Handling Passport Scheme (SMHPS) and recognised best practice. The programme combines manual handling theory, practical people handling skills, and training delivery techniques, ensuring delegates are competent to teach others safely and effectively within their organisation. Course Structure Day 1 – Scottish Manual Handling Passport Scheme (SMHPS) Modules A–E Delegates complete the full practical and theoretical training covering: Module A: Manual Handling Theory Understanding the principles of safe manual handling, relevant legislation, and how injuries occur. Module B: Manual Handling of Inanimate Loads Practical techniques for safely lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, and carrying loads. Module C: Chair Manoeuvres Safe techniques for assisting individuals to move in and out of chairs while maintaining dignity and safety. Module D: Bed Manoeuvres Practical skills for repositioning and assisting individuals in bed safely and effectively. Module E: Hoisting Safe use of hoisting equipment and slings to support safe patient transfers. Day 2 – Trainer Skills and Risk Management Delegates develop the skills required to deliver moving and handling training within their workplace, including: Moving and handling risk assessment Planning and structuring training sessions Effective training delivery techniques Communication and engagement strategies Evaluating learning and providing feedback Day 3 – Trainer Assessments Delegates will complete: Practical moving and handling assessments Trainer delivery assessments Feedback and evaluation to ensure competence in delivering internal training. Successful delegates will receive certification confirming their competence to deliver Moving and Handling training within their organisation. This course comes with a year 3 certification with a requirement for successful participants to attend a yearly update. Min 4 - Max of 8 Attendees.
Cancellation Policy
Individual Bookings: Full payment for online bookings must be made at the time of booking. Group Bookings: Full payment for group training courses must be received within 7 days of the invoice date to secure the booking, unless otherwise agreed. Cancellation of a booking by an individual or organisation following submission of the booking form will attract the following charges based on time prior to course commencement date: Cancellation exceeding 30 days: No Fee Cancellation between 30 – 14 days: 25% of full fee retained Cancellation between 13 -7 days: 50% of full fee retained Cancellation less than 7 days: Full fee retained If you wish to postpone your booking, notice of this must be received at least 14 days prior to the course start date for your fee to be transferred (this does not apply to group bookings). Less notice than this may incur further charges. One postponement per booking is permitted. Nags Training Solutions reserve the right to cancel, postpone or re-arrange any training course without reason. If this unlikely event occurs Nags Training Solutions will provide as much notice as possible and where payment has been made, the customer will be entitled to a full refund. If you have made a mistake in your booking and cannot correct it in the website, contact us and we will correct the mistake. When confirmation of your booking is received, this is to indicate that we have received your booking. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your booking, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice.
